BIOGRAPHY:

Based in Mannheim and Ludwigshafen, Germany, the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie (German State Philharmonic) is the musical voice of the Rheinland region of Germany and divides its robust concert schedule between the regions two most important cities – Mannheim and Ludwigshafen. This is the orchestras first US tour, and will feature Philippe Entremont, piano soloist and conductor, whose successful debut in November 2008, inspired a regular collaboration.

Philippe Entremont, the magnetic French conductor/pianist has been acclaimed worldwide for the elegance and virtuosity of his playing, as well as his outstanding interpretive abilities on the podium. He is a key example of internationally renowned artists who divide their careers between conducting and solo performances. In October 2004 Philippe Entremont was named Principal Guest Conductor of the Munich Symphony whom he led on an extremely successful 29-concert debut US tour during the fall of 2005. Maestro Entremont’s other notable posts include Conductor Laureate of both the Vienna Chamber and the Israel Chamber Orchestras and Principal Guest Conductor of the Orquestra de Cadaqués. In addition, he founded the biennial Santo Domingo Music Festival in 1997 which celebrated its 5th season in 2005.
